InMicro® Prepared: XLD Agar (Xylose, Lysine, Desoxycholate) is a selective and differential medium used for the isolation and identification of Salmonella and Shigella species from clinical, food, and environmental samples.
InMicro® Prepared XLD Agar is formulated for the selective isolation and differentiation of
enteric pathogens, primarily Salmonella and Shigella species. The medium incorporates xylose,
which is fermented by most Enterobacteriaceae except Shigella, allowing it to appear as red
colonies. Salmonella species decarboxylate lysine, reverting the pH, and also produce hydrogen
sulfide, forming black-centred colonies for easy identification. Desoxycholate acts as an inhibitor
for Gram-positive bacteria, increasing selectivity. This prepared medium is ideal for
microbiological laboratories involved in clinical diagnostics, food safety testing, and
environmental monitoring.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
