Overview

Pretreat the samples to increase the yield of Legionella from clinical specimens using InMicro® Prepared: Potassium Chloride Solution (pH 2.2, 0.2M). In 1981, Bopp et al. demonstrated the recovery rate of Legionella from environmental water samples was improved by treating samples with acid before plating onto selective media. Buesching et al. demonstrated the recovery of Legionella organisms from clinical specimens was improved by pre-treatment with potassium chloride-hydrochloric acid solution (pH 2.2).

Potassium Chloride Solution (pH 2.2, 0.2M) is a liquid medium that is used as a pretreatment to increase the yield of Legionella from clinical specimens. Potassium Chloride Solution (pH 2.2, 0.2M) is an acid wash treatment that serves to decontaminate specimens before inoculation of media for Legionella cultivation.

Potassium Chloride Solution (pH 2.2, 0.2M) contains hydrochloric acid (0.2 M) and potassium chloride (0.2M) with pH 2.2.
