Differentiate aerobic actinomycetes using InMicro® Prepared: Lysozyme Control Broth.
Differentiate aerobic actinomycetes like Nocardia and Streptomycesusing InMicro® Prepared: Lysozyme Control Broth. A taxonomic scheme for identification of aerobic actinomycetes was developed based on biochemical characteristics which included testing for the growth in the presence of lysozyme. The enzyme lysozyme breaks down the cell walls of certain aerobic actinomycetes such as Streptomyces spp. and are referred sensitive and will not grow in lysozyme broth. Lysozyme resistance is more reliable in differentiating Nocardia and Streptomyces.
The aerobic actinomycetes are a heterogeneous group of genera and include species of Nocardia and Streptomyces. As a group, the organisms are gram-positive, and catalase-positive that may be presumptively identified by staining properties, microscopic morphology, and substrate degradation. Most Nocardia spp. are resistant and grow in the presence of lysozyme.
This medium contains beef extract, peptone, and glycerol that supply carbohydrates, vitamins, nitrogen compounds, salts, and amino acids necessary for the growth of aerobic actinomycetes.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
