Isolate anaerobic microorganisms with this ready-prepared medium.
Isoate and cultivate Campylobacter jejuni from fecal specimens and rectal swabs with InMicro® Prepared: Brucella Agar with 5% Sheep Blood, TVP (Skirrow). Campylobacter is a major cause of diarrheal disease in adults and children and usually is associated with unsanitary preparation of food.
The medium based on Skirrow’s formulation contains three antibiotics: trimethorprim, vancomycin and polymyxin B. In order to effectively recover Campylobacter spp without comprising the activity of trimethorprim, horse blood in the original formulation is substituted by the sheep blood.
Campylobacter are Gram-negative, spirally shaped microaerophilic organisms which may be present in raw milk, untreated water, improperly handled food and undercooked meats, poultry and shellfish. Human consumption of these organisms can result in a range of clinical illnesses from transient asymptomatic colonisation to severe dysentery. The symptoms of Campylobacter enteritis include diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, fever, headache and muscle pain.
Brucella Agar with 5% Sheep Blood, TVP (Skirrow) is a solid medium recommended for use in qualitative procedures for the primary isolation and cultivation of Campylobacter jejuni from fecal specimens or rectal swabs.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
