Leibovitz’s L-15 Medium supports the growth of HEP-2 monkey kidney cells and primary explants of embryonic and adult human tissue. L-15 is buffered by phosphates and free base amino acids instead of sodium bicarbonate. This medium is designed to support cell growth in environments without CO2 equilibration.
This L-15 is modified as follows:
With: Galactose, Phenol Red, L-glutamine, Sodium Pyruvate
Without: Glucose, HEPES, Sodium Bicarbonate
L-15 contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors. Therefore, F-10 requires supplementation, commonly with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Powder forms of Ecose™ L-15 cell culture medium require pH adjustment and filtration during preparation.
