Product Description

Avam® RNase A (Molecular Biology Grade) is a high-purity endoribonuclease derived from bovine pancreas, specifically designed for molecular biology applications. With a monomeric weight of 13.7 kDa, this enzyme selectively cleaves single-stranded RNA 3′ next to pyrimidine residues, such as cytosine and uracil, degrading RNA into cyclic nucleotide monophosphates to 5′-OH and 2′-, 3′-cyclic monophosphate. It possesses enzyme activity of over 80 units/mg protein and exhibits no endonuclease or exonuclease activity towards DNA substrates.

Supplied in a salt-free, freeze-dried form or in a 50% glycerol solution, Avam® RNase A MBG is versatile and can be stored at -20°C for long-term storage or at 4°C for up to several weeks. Each unit of activity is defined as the amount of enzyme that causes the hydrolysis of RNA to yield a velocity constant (k=1) at 25°C and pH 5.0.
