InMicro® Dehydrated: Baird-Parker RPF Agar Base is designed for the selective isolation of
Staphylococcus aureus, a pathogenic bacterium commonly associated with foodborne illnesses
and clinical infections. The medium incorporates a unique formulation that enhances the growth
of S. aureus while suppressing the growth of competing microorganisms. The addition of
tellurite and egg yolk in the agar base enables the differentiation of S. aureus based on its
distinctive colony morphology, characterized by black colonies surrounded by a clear zone. This
medium is ideal for food safety testing, clinical microbiology, and environmental sampling where
accurate detection of staphylococcal species is crucial.
