Cultivate and isolate Mycoplasma species with this basal medium when used with any satisfactory supplements
Cultivate and isolate Mycoplasma species with InMicro® Dehydrated: Mycoplasma Agar Base when used with any satisfactory supplementary factors for the growth of Mycoplasma (PPLO).
For the cultivation of Mycoplasma, the medium and all the supplements should be free of any toxic substances even in small amounts. Mycoplasma Agar Base is free from such inhibitory or toxic substances. It also contains a special mineral supplement which improves the growth and colony characteristics of mycoplasmas without interfering with the clarity of the medium.
Mycoplasma are a mollicute genus of bacteria that lack a cell wall around their cell membranes. This characteristic makes them naturally resistant to many common antibiotics such as penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis. They can be parasitic or saprotrophic. They are mainly parasites on the surface of human and animal epithelium cells.
Mycoplasma Agar Base is formulated as a basal medium to be enriched with any satisfactory supplementary factors used for the growth of mycoplasmas.
The majority of mycoplasma require media enriched with serum for good growth. Also antibacterial agents are necessary to prevent overgrowth of the slow-growing mycoplasmas by contaminating organisms.
Many species of mycoplasmas are aerobes or facultative anaerobes but some prefer micro-aerophilic conditions with the addition of carbon dioxide, or strict anaerobiosis.
Pathogenic strains grow best at 35°C while saprophytic strains often grow between 22°C and 30°C, T-strains have an optimal temperature of 36°C.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
