Presumptively detect, isolate and enumerate pathogenic staphylococci in milk, food, fish and other specimens with this highly selective medium.
Presumptively detect, isolate and enumerate pathogenic staphylococci in milk, food, fish and other specimens with InMicro® Dehydrated: Mannitol Salt Agar. Due to high concentrations of salt in the medium, most unwanted bacteria are inhibited with the exception of some halophilic marine organisms. Presumptive coagulase-positive staphylococci produce colonies surrounded by bright yellow zones while non-pathogenic staphylococci produce colonies with reddish purple zones.
Staphylococcus aureus is a coagulase-positive, catalase-positive, Gram-positive cocci that occur singly or in pairs, tetrads, short chains, and grape-like clusters. S. aureus can produce a variety of syndromes with clinical manifestations, including skin and soft tissue infections, empyema, bloodstream infections, pneumonia, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, endocarditis, sepsis, and meningitis.
Clearly and easily differentiate Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis while most other bacteria is inhibited by the high salt concentration.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
