Eugonic Broth (Modified) was developed by Vera to obtain eugonic growth of fastidious organism, such as Neisseria, Haemophilus and Brucella. Finegold recommended the addition of maltose, yeast extract, vitamin K and hemin to help in the recovery of anaerobe and fastidious organism from clinical specimen. Campos and Spainhour recommended this broth for detecting bacteremia in pediatric patients.
Eugonic Broth (Modified), is a liquid medium recommended for cultivation of microorganism such as Neisseria, Haemophilus and anaerobic bacteria. This broth is used to detect bacteremia in patients from whom only a small amount of blood can be collected.

- Easy-to-use: Inoculate the broth directly with clinical specimen immediately once it is received in the laboratory and incubate at 33-37º C for 72 hours.
Eugonic Broth (Modified) contains casein, meat and soy peptones that supply essential nutrients that support the rapid growth of microorganisms. Dextrose provides a ready source of energy. Maltose and yeast extract stimulate the growth of anaerobic bacteria. GCHI Enrichment is a supplement which provide NAD, vitamins, amino acids, coenzymes, dextrose, and ferric ions to promote growth of fastidious microorganisms that include Neisseria and Haemophilus. Hemin and vitamin K supply growth factors required by anaerobes. A small quantity of agar is added to enhance anaerobic conditions.
