Cultivates pathogenic yeast and fungi from clinical specimens with InMicro® Prepared: Sabouraud Dextrose Broth, 2%. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is a modification of the original medium developed by Sabouraud in 1892. Emmons neutralized the pH, increasing it to 7.0, and reduced the concentration of dextrose from 40 to 20g/L. Sabouraud Dextrose Broth 2% is a modification of the original formulation, without agar.

The low pH of the medium is favorable to the growth of fungi, especially dermatophytes, while also inhibiting contaminating bacteria in clinical specimens.
