Rapidly identify Candida (Torulopsis) glabrata using InMicro® Prepared: Rapid Trehalose Assimilation Broth. In 1985, Stockman and Roberts described the use of rapid assimilation trehalose broth to screen germ-tube-negative yeast isolates for the presumptive identification of C. glabrata. The test was performed in a microtiter format and interpreted after 1 hour incubation at 35° C. The format and formulation of this screening method have been modified to accommodate the use of a tubed medium.
Candida glabrata represents approximately 20% of all yeast recovered from urine cultures. Recently, C. glabrata has emerged as an opportunistic pathogen with cases of endocarditis, meningitis and disseminated infections.
This medium contains higher amounts of yeast nitrogen and carbohydrate (trehalose) compared to the Wickerham broth formulation. Bromocresol green is incorporated as an indicator because its lower pH range is active in a more acidic environment.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
