InMicro® Prepared: BHI Agar with Vancomycin is a ready-to-use medium recommended for detecting vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
Detect vancomycin-resistant enterococci with InMicro® Prepared: BHI Agar with Vancomycin. Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) Agar with Vancomycin is used for screening of enterococci resistant to vancomycin and is recommended as a reliable method for the detection of all phenotypes of vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
Vancomycin-resistant enterococci were first recognized in Europe and the United States in the late 1980s. Since then they are now being recovered with increasing frequency. Various phenotypes responsible for acquired resistance in enterococci have been described with high to low vancomycin resistance and cross-resistance to teicoplanin. Detection has been difficult due to failure of commonly used susceptibility methods to identify those isolates with low-level resistance.
An Agar screen test with BHI Agar supplemented with 6μg/ml of vancomycin has been recommended by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) as a reliable method for the detection of all phenotypes of vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
