Isolate and presumptively identify Bacteroides fragilis group from clinical specimens with the selective, differential InMicro® Prepared: Bacteroides Fragilis Isolation Agar. The selectivity of this medium is provided by the addition of gentamicin and bile. Differentiation is facilitated by the hydrolysis of esculin to esculitin by the Bacteroides fragilis group. Ferric ammonium citrate is added to the medium to react with esculetin and produce a brown-black complex surrounding the colony.
Bacteroides fragilis is an obligately anaerobic, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium. It is part of the normal microbiota of the human colon and is generally commensal, but can cause infection if displaced into the bloodstream or surrounding tissue following surgery, disease, or trauma.
Bacteroides Fragilis Isolation Agar is a selective and differential medium for recovery and presumptive identification of Bacteroides fragilis group.
Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility under the ISO 13485 standard, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards, consistency, and reliability for both research and industrial settings.
