Product Description

Collagenase is a unique protease that specifically cleaves bonds between a neutral amino acid (X) and glycine in the Pro-X-Gly-Pro sequence, abundant in collagen. It effectively degrades triple-helical native collagen fibrils found in connective tissues like skin, tendon, blood vessels, and bone. Collagenase disaggregation is widely used for culturing human tumors, mouse kidneys, and brain tissues, among others, as it operates gently at physiological temperature and pH, without requiring mechanical agitation or special equipment. Ecose™ Collagenase, Type I, derived from Clostridium histolyticum, is provided as a lyophilized, non-sterile powder designed for research applications such as cell and tissue dissociation and organ perfusion. Compared to other preparations, it exhibits average collagenase, caseinase, clostripain, and tryptic activities, making it ideal for digesting fat, adrenal, and liver tissues. Its activity exceeds 125 units/mg and should be stored at 2°C to 8°C, protected from light.
