Ecose™ Antibiotic-Antimycotic (100X) is a comprehensive solution designed to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination in cell cultures, ensuring reliable and reproducible results. This ready-to-use formulation contains 10,000 units/mL of penicillin, 10,000 μg/mL of streptomycin, and 25 μg/mL of Amphotericin B, each contributing to its broad-spectrum efficacy. Penicillin, derived from the fungus Penicillium, disrupts bacterial cell wall turnover, further weakening the cell wall through enzymatic release. Streptomycin, originally purified from Streptomyces griseus, binds to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and causing bacterial death. Amphotericin B, known for its antifungal properties, inhibits the growth of multi-cellular fungi and yeast by disrupting fungal membrane integrity. Together, these components offer robust protection against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungal contaminants. Ecose™ Antibiotic-Antimycotic is an essential supplement for maintaining contamination-free cultures and should be stored at-5°C to-20°C to preserve its potency.
